Industry Guru and Director of Willmott Solutions
Peter Willmott is a world-renowned authority on the application of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and has written and published two books on the subject. Having gained his foundational experience with Bristol Aeroplane Co, (now BAE Systems), today Peter’s impressive list of clients include BAA, BNFL, BP, Exxon ,Ford , General Motors, J&J, Linpac, Pfizer, Pirelli, Premier Foods, RHM Group , Rolls Royce, Royal Mail, Royal Mint , Shell, Sony, Westland Helicopters and Wyeth. He was nominated for the prestigious European Federation of National Maintenance Societies Salvetti Foundation Award 2008.
Director of Manufacturing Insight
Nick Hussey is the recently appointed Director of Manufacturing Insight, tasked with improving the perception of manufacturing especially amongst children aged 11-14. He is also Chairman of SayOne Media, publishers of The Manufacturer Magazine. Nick has a background in publishing dating back 20 years and started his first publishing company in 1994. When this company was sold in 2005 it had offices in UK, US, Asia and Australia and published some 22 industry leading titles and organised over 120 events each year.
Director of MSc Lean Operations, Cardiff University
John Bicheno is the author of several best-selling books including The Lean Toolbox (which sold over 100k copies), Six Sigma, and the Quality Toolbox. In 1999 he initiated and became Director of the MSc programme in Lean Operations at Cardiff Business School. Modules of this unique part time programme are held at various factory locations and around 60 one-week on-site modules have been held at almost the same number of companies since the program began. The programme now has over 100 alumni, including some of the other speakers on the panel.

Reliability Development Manager, Cadbury UK
Alister Jones joined the manufacturing management team of Cadbury Ltd, the UK chocolate confectionary company, in 1995, after working on various European Union funded research projects into advanced manufacturing technologies. From 2000, Alister worked with Cadbury Schweppes as part of their Global Manufacturing Best Practice team, developing best practice approaches to asset effectiveness and plant reliability. This involved the identification of appropriate lean tools for maintenance and operational teams, including them within the Cadbury Schweppes CI framework, and then working with factory teams around the global business supporting their implementation programmes. Currently, Alister is working with Cadbury in the UK, assisting factory management and operational teams with plant reliability development using lean tools.
Manufacturing Manager, Constellation Europe
Richard Lloyd is the Manufacturing Manager of Constellation Europe’s new production site in Bristol where he is responsible for the transition of production from the current site to the new £100 million facility. With bottling capacity of 120 million bottles per annum and warehousing capacity of 90,000 pallets, lean philosophy is central to the design of operational structure, training, material flow and cultural development at the new site. Prior to joining Constellation Europe, Richard introduced a high performance operational culture and lean philosophy as part of his role as Production Manager at Imperial Tobacco, Nottingham. Richard holds a BEng in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management from Nottingham University and is currently undertaking an MSc in Lean Operations at Cardiff University.
Director of Operations, Idhammar Systems
Alan France is Operations Director of Idhammar Systems, a leading European supplier of manufacturing software including OEE and Maintenance Management solutions. Alan’s background includes several years as a Engineering Systems Manager for the largest food companies in Europe, including Grand Metropolitan where he was responsible for maintenance across 33 factories. A systems specialist with extensive experience in lean manufacturing, Alan then became Managing Director of Cdata, developing the innovative OEE software solutions that now form part of the Idhammar Systems portfolio. Alan is now a frequent contributor at events worldwide, speaking on the importance of underpinning lean initiatives with realistic targets and sound metrics; he is also a contributing editor to a number of major trade publications.
Business Transformation Manager, DePuy
Cathal O'Reilly has worked across a number of sectors within the Medical Devices industry over the past 12 years, primarily focusing on the introduction and implementation of Lean systems. In 2007, Cathal joined DePuy Ireland, part of the Johnson & Johnson family and one of the world’s leading orthopaedic products companies. As Business Transformation Manager, Cathal is responsible for directing the strategic transformation of the business, incorporating programmes such as policy deployment, organisational realignment, cultural development, process streamlining, value stream costing, and leadership development. Cathal holds a BE in Industrial Engineering from the National University of Ireland and an MSc in Lean Operations from Cardiff University.

Clive Poole is World Class Manufacturing Development Manager at Saint-Gobain Gyproc - the leading supplier of sustainable, innovative, lightweight interior building systems. With a long track record of successful, commercially focused, Continuous Improvement programme management, Clive worked for Geest as a Group Manufacturing Analyst, and then as TPM Manager at Campbell’s Soup Company before joining Saint-Gobain in 2003. A qualified engineer who has since specialised in Communication, Standardisation, Cost Deployment, Strategy, and Policy Deployment, Clive now works with Saint-Gobain’s manufacturing teams world-wide, transferring his considerable knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and TPM and ensuring continuous improvement and sustainable results are made throughout the group.
